The pitman arm on your car connects the steering box to the center link and the rest of the steering linkage. Over time the greasable ends and even the holes in the arm can wear causing loose connections and a sloppy steering feel.

In this series of videos, auto mechanic Mike Green will show you how to replace the pitman arm on a 1996 Chevy Tahoe with 4WD. This procedure is the same for any 1988-1998 GM Trucks and 1992-2000 GM SUVs.

This is part 2, you’ll learn how to reinstall the new pitman arm.

Tools needed for replacing a pitman arm:
Penetrating oil.
11mm, 15mm, 21mm, and 34mm sockets and ratchet.
18mm fitting wrench.
18mm open end wrench.
Joint fork and hammer.
Pitman arm puller.
